Bosnia and Herzegovina remains strongly committed to the global efforts of fighting terrorism and rooting out this threat in all its shapes, said Chairman of Bosnia and Herzegovina's Presidency, Bakir Izetbegovic, addressing the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.

Izetbegovic represented Bosnia at the session for the fourth and, as he said, the final time as Bosnia's Presidency Chairman.

During the speech, Izetbegovic mentioned the threats the world has been facing for the past years, pointing out multilateralism, international law and international order as crucial in solving the issues of today.

“Our citizens want to live in the peaceful world in which human dignity is respected and fundamental human rights and freedoms are protected,” he said.

A strong global and regional cooperation in prevention and solving of conflicts, fight against terrorism and implementation of the Agenda 2030 is essential for the success of the UN's efforts, the Presidency Chairman noted, adding that Bosnia strongly values the cooperation that was established within the Western Balkans.

“We remain committed to advancing that cooperation, including the cooperation on our joint path to the membership in the European Union,” he underlined.
