Podgorica Mayor Ivan Vukovic said on Wednesday that the Montenegrin capital will support the initiative to raise a monument to the late Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito.

“The capital of Montenegro will support the initiative to raise a monument to Josip Broz Tito, the man whose name Podgorica had for 47 years, to continue that proud tradition,” the mayor said at a meeting with representatives of a World War 2 veterans organization – UBNOR which rallies former partisan fighters who were under Tito’s command.

He said that Podgorica, which was named Titograd in the former Yugoslavia, would give more support to the activities of the UBNOR. “We are proud or our ancestors,” Vukovic said.
