Izetbegovic: All pro-Bosnian parties should enter government

The incumbent Bosniak member of the tripartite Presidency urged parties with enough votes to enter the government to focus on the interests of the citizens and the country while they are negotiating coalitions and discussing future positions.

Bakir Izetbegovic reacted to recent statements and speculations about who will enter into coalitions with whom after the October election.

All parties are now calculating which partnership make them stronger.

“Will they keep on fighting for Bosnia and Herzegovina or among themselves?” the leader of the Party for Democratic Action asked. “Are the chairs on some cantonal level more important than the establishment of a strong Bosnian front that will move the country forward?”

Izetbegovic said his party is ready to form the government together with as many strong, pro-Bosnian parties as possible.

“It’s important that all pro-Bosnian parties enter the government,” he said.

“I believe that voters who opted for the SDA, the SDP and the DF and others had the interest of the state in mind,” he said, referring to the Social Democratic Party and the Democratic Front, both advocating a strong, EU-oriented Bosnia.
