Bosnia’s Bosniak member of the tripartite Presidency, Sefik Dzaferovic, said that Bosnia cannot function without the engagement and help of the international community.

“In the past 12 years, the role of the international community was getting weaker even though they are obliged by the Dayton Peace Agreement (which ended the 1992-1995 war) to help us,” Dzaferovic said. “They should help us make a functional system and then they can end their mandate.”

When it comes to the actions of the international community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dzaferovic said that activities between the Washington and Brussels are unusually important for Bosnia and that they were assured, Wednesday, these activities will continue.

After the Peace Implementation Council’s meeting, the tripartite Presidency met with the US State Department Deputy Assistant Secretary at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs Mathew Palmer with whom they spoke about the US-Bosnian relations.

“I support a strong US engagement in Bosnia. With their help, we’ve implemented a number of important reforms in all fields. I was reassured this help will continue in the future,” Dzaferovic added.

He noted that Palmer confirmed US’ support for Bosnia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
