Interpol issued a warrant for Jozo Djojic, the former member of Bosnian Croat forces, who was sentenced to six years behind bars for raping a woman in the northern Bosnian town of Odzak during the 1992-95 Bosnian war.

Djojic holds dual citizenship of Bosnia and Croatia, and the warrant has been issued after he did not appear to serve the prison sentence for the war crimes committed in Odzak.

Bosnian state court confirmed on February 18 the first-instance verdict for Djajic, the former member of the Croat Defence Council (HVO), sentencing him to six years in prison for the war crime committed in Odzak area in July 1992.

Kenan Ademovic, Djajic's attorney, said he has not been informed about his client being listed on the Interpol site.

“This is the first time I hear about that. I haven't been in touch with him since after the verdict,” said Ademovic.

Bosnia's Justice Ministry confirmed that the Court asked from Croatia to have Djajic serve his sentence in Bosnia, on grounds of the agreement that Bosnia has signed with the countries in the region which enable the transfer of final verdicts among the countries.
