The High Representative for Bosnia met in Ljubljana, on Tuesday, with Slovenian President Borut Pahor and said that negative trends still exist in the country, despite the clear need to continue working on the pressing socio-economic reforms and fighting organized crime and corruption.

Valentin Inzko informed Pahor about the current political developments in the country and thanked for Slovenia’s support to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Inzko also informed the Slovenian President about the situation regarding the formation of authorities in Bosnia, after the October general election.

“Once the authorities are formed, Bosnian politicians should turn a new page and engage in serious reforms in order to improve the lives of Bosnian citizens,” said the High Representative.

He also thanked Slovenia for its contribution to EUFOR (the European Union armed forces in Bosnia which oversees the military implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement that ended the war in Bosnia.) and expressed his appreciation for Slovenia’s continued support to Bosnia's Euro-Atlantic integration process.

During his stay in Slovenia, Inzko will also meet with the Speaker of the Slovenian Parliament, Dejan Zidan, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Miro Cerar.

The institution of the High Representative was set up by the international community with a function to oversee the civilian implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
