A Bosnian national was arrested in Trujillo, Peru, in an anti-drug smuggling operation during which police discovered drugs worth $ 80 million (some € 69 million).

According to the Peruvian Prosecution, Smail Sikalo was arrested in an operation in which authorities intercepted a drug shipment intended for the European market where it would reach the price of $ 80 million, La Republica daily reported.

The paper also wrote that Sikalo, who planned to leave Peru just before the operation, was arrested once more in 1998, also for drug smuggling.

They wrote that another Bosnian national was targeted by the Peruvian police. Zoran Mihailovic Jaksic, was arrested on the orders of a US Drug Enforcement Agency on suspicion of murder and drug trafficking.

The authorities in this south-American country could not exclude the possibility that these two could be linked somehow, La Republica reported.
