Bosnia's state police apprehended 30 persons in an operation aimed at breaking a group involved in the distribution of the goods that did not undergo customs clearance, the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) said on Thursday.

According to the agency, the police officers found and seized about 40 kilos of gold and silver as well as a large sum of money, supposedly gained in the acts of crime the detained persons are charged with.

The operation codenamed ‘Gold karat’ carried out at the order of Bosnia's State Court and the Prosecutor's Office, the SIPA said, is a result of the several-month-long operational and investigative activities conducted by the agency's police officers.

SIPA raided over 50 locations within this operation in different parts of the country.
