The US Embassy in Bosnia expressed on Tuesday condolences to the family and friends of Slavisa Krunic, saying it is “shocked by the brutal assassination” of the Bosnian Serb businessman.

Krunic, the owner of several enterprises, including security agency ‘Sector Security’ and bakery chain ‘Zitopeka’ was killed on Monday alongside one of his associates in what appeared to be an ambush near his house in the suburbs of Banja Luka, the administrative centre of Bosnia’s Serb-majority part.

One of the attackers, Zeljko Kovacevic, was also killed in the shootout.

On Tuesday, the US Embassy in Bosnia tweeted:

“Shocked by the brutal assassination of Slaviša Krunić, and express our condolences to his family, colleagues, and the wider @AmCham_BiH community. We expect the relevant authorities to take the necessary steps to investigate this crime and hold accountable those responsible.”
