The meeting with the CIA Deputy Director Vaughn Bishop was extremely constructive and dealt with illegal migrations, the cooperation between Bosnia and the US in the fight against terrorism and Bosnian returnees from Syria, Dragan Lukac, Bosnia's Serb-dominated Republika Srpska (RS) entity Interior Minister told the press on Friday.

“It’s essential that we understood and agreed with each other, so we can continue our cooperation in order to protect all Bosnia’s citizens and their property,” Lukac said.

The CIA Deputy Director met in Sarajevo with representatives of police and security agencies in the country. Among them were the State Minister of Security Dragan Mektic and RS Minister of Interior, Dragan Lukac.

Security Minister Mektoc said he emphasised the matter of wide-spread corruption in the society which negatively affects Bosnia’s security.

The two-hour meeting with Bishop was also attended by Slobodan Nujic from the Foreigners’ Affairs Agency, Deputy Director of the Border Police Mirsad Vilic, State Investigation and Protection Agency Director Perica Stanic and Director of the Intelligence and Security Agency Osman Mehmedagic.

In addition to migration and terrorism issues, Mektic familiarised Bishop with the inefficiency of the Prosecution in Bosnia’s other semi-autonomous entity – the Bosniak-Croat shared Federation, as well as the corruption and crime in the country. He said he hopes the US would devote more attention to Bosnia’s peace and stability.

According to N1’s reporter, Bishop is planned to hold several other meetings in Sarajevo on Friday night.
