Court sends attacker on journalist to jail for 4 years

A court in the northern city of Banja Luka sentenced on Friday 32-year-old Marko Colic to four years in prison for trying to kill journalist Vladimir Kovacevic, 37.

Together with Nedeljko Dukic, 28, Colic assaulted the BNTV journalist on August 26th last year in Banja Luka, the administrative centre of Bosnia’s Serb-majority semi-autonomous entity of Republika Srpska (RS).

The attack sparked outrage and protests among journalists who gathered near the seat of the RS Presidency to express support for Kovacevic.

The motive for the attack is yet to be determined, as well as who ordered it.
