Construction of one of the most complex sections on the Corridor Vc highway through Bosnia should be done by end of the 2020 construction season, according to 'Autoceste FBiH' state-owned company.

Klopce-Donja Gracanica highway section, which bypasses the central city of Zenica, cuts across three large landslides and difficult conditions cause delays in the work.

“Due to numerous problems and challenges we have met on this subsection, caused by extremely bad geological-morphological terrain configuration, we expect the end of works by end of the 2020 construction season,” said Samir Piric, the company's representative.

The 5.78-kilometres long section will have four viaducts, two tunnels and one bridge.

The amount of 107.8 million Euros to construct this part of the highway was provided by international financial institutions, OPEC Fund for International Development and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The works are performed by Euro-asfalt and Strabag AG consortium.

Corridor Vc is a pan-European road link, connecting Croatia's Adriatic coast with Hungary and rest of Europe through Bosnian territory.

So far, Bosnia's Federation entity constructed 102 kilometres of the highway, which belongs to the Corridor, while the Republika Srpska entity constructed three kilometres more but none of it makes a part of this pan-European road link.
