Main Croat party marks anniversary, says its requests lead country to EU, NATO

HDZ BiH

The Croat Democratic Union (HDZ BiH) has the requests that lead the country towards the European values and international organisations, foremost towards the European Union and NATO, the strongest Croat party in Bosnia said on Sunday, on occasion of its 29th anniversary.

HDZ BiH, the nationalist party which is the branch of the ruling HDZ in Croatia, said it would continue advocating for “constitutional patriotism,” which can serve as a ground for solving of the problems in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“…because our homeland Bosnia and Herzegovina must survive as a country of three constituent peoples with legitimacy,” the party said.

HDZ BiH won the largest number of votes among the Croats in the last year’s election and is to form the authorities with the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), election winners among other two major ethnic groups in Bosnia, Bosniaks and Serbs.

While the SNSD represents Republika Srpska, the Serb-dominated entity in the state institutions, the SDA and the HDZ BiH share the power in the Federation (FBiH) entity and represent it at the state level.
