Bosnian film 'Sin' ('The Son') will be the country's candidate for the Academy Awards in the Foreign Language Film category, the Association of Filmmakers of Bosnia and Herzegovina decided.
‘The Son’ by Ines Tanovic had its world premiere at the 25th Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF) last month.
It is a story about an adopted boy, 18-year-old Arman who is battling the demons of his past, trying to protect his younger, 14-year-old brother Dino from the challenges of his age and life in a big city, including drugs and weapon.
The film tells a story about a family torn apart by internal tensions while struggling to survive in Bosnia.
Bosnia's Association of Filmmakers has been selecting candidates for the Oscar nominations for the past 19 years, including ‘No Man's Land’ the film by Danis Tanovic, which was awarded in March 2002 as the Best Foreign Language Film.
The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honour the best films of 2019 in a ceremony on February 9, 2020.
