Bosnian national and fighter of the ISIS terrorist organisation, Armin Curt, escaped the camp Roj in Syria, just days before his deportation to Bosnia, N1 learns.

He was first supposed to be deported on April 20, together with Ibro Cufurovic, Bosnia's Security Minister Dragan Mektic told N1, adding that he was officially informed of Curt's escape.

“I have no further information regarding his situation, but that's the reason why he never came to Bosnia. I'm not informed of any other similar cases but I think they increased their surveillance and control measures over there (in Syria), after this case,” Mektic said.

Ibro Cufurovic was the first Bosnian ISIS fighter, who was deported to Bosnia in mid-April from a Syrian camp.

Prior to his deportation, Cufurovic was in the prison part of the camp Roj, in North-East Syria, where he was held together with Armin Curt from Sarajevo.

The indictment against Cufurovic was confirmed in mid-July 2019. He pleaded not guilty to the criminal offence of organizing a terrorist group in relation to the crime of terrorism, and the main trial commenced at the end of August 2019.

According to the Prosecution, Cufurovic went to Syria in 2014 when he was 19, using the name Abu Kasim al-Bosnia and participated in terrorist activities in the Beit Commandos unit, which was later renamed to al-Aqsa.

He stayed in Syria by the end of April 2019.
