NASA names crater on Mars after Bosnian municipality

A crater on planet Mars was named after the central Bosnian municipality of Jezero, said a letter from NASA which US Ambassador Eric Nelson handed to Jezero’s mayor Snezana Ruzicic on Monday.

The letter said that a rover is to land in the crater next year.

Nelson said that he hopes the connection with Mars would help children and students realise the importance of science and technology in their future education.

Ruzicic said she was pleased that the name of her municipality was chosen among 80 proposals.
