Security Minister Dragan Mektić and recently appointed Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Sarajevo Johann Sattler met on Monday to discuss the burning issue of migrations and Bosnia's cooperation with European security agencies.

The minister informed Sattler about the activities aimed at the opening of a new shelter for migrants near Sarajevo, which will disburden the westernmost region of Una-Sana Canton currently affected the most by the migrant crisis.

Also, the officials discussed the improvement of accommodation capacities in this region, which means that the open-air camp Vucjak near the town of Bihac will be shut down after the EU institutions assessed it as inadequate for the migrants’ stay.

The EU's ambassador told Mektic that the Union will soon appoint an expert for migrations, who will be cooperating with Bosnia's institutions in the migration management.

The issue will also be discussed in Brussels with Christian Danielsson, Director-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations at the European Commission.
