Members of the ‘Justice for David’ group, who have been demanding since March 2018 that authorities reveal the truth behind the controversial death of David Dragicevic, 21, have formed a new political party on Sunday - the ‘Movement for Justice’.

The young man's father, Davor Dragicevic, addressed those who gathered at the founding assembly from Austria via Skype, saying that he will never give up in his battle for the truth.

Ozren Perduv is the leader of the new party.

“In our Statute, we mentioned several key goals: Most of all the rule of law. That means that the law must be the same for all. Secondly, a parliamentary democracy, which means that we need to have three independent pillars of government. Today we don’t have that, all three pillars are controlled by a few people. The third goal is that a principle of responsibility must be set up in this country, so everyone is accountable for their actions,” Perduv said.

The lifeless body of David Dragicevic was found in March 2018, and initially, police said that he had taken drugs and drowned in a nearby river. This explanation sparked public outrage and angered the young man’s father who swore he would pursue justice no matter what.

Davor Dragicevic believes the police is covering up the murder and protecting some politically connected suspects.

The ‘Justice for David’ protests in Banja Luka, the administrative centre of Bosnia’s Serb-majority region, began after the controversial press conference by police.

The case remains unresolved until this day.

“This entire thing started because we have exhausted all methods to fight for justice for David. We believe this political way of continuing the fight is the only one left. The time has come for us to kick them (politicians) out of their posts, and that can only be done through politics,” Perduv said.
