The Pomozi.ba humanitarian organisation leased a closed motel in the central-Bosnian town of Tuzla to accommodate the migrants and refugees in the area currently sleeping out in the open, the organisation said on Friday.

“A great number of migrants and refugees are freezing at the Tuzla bus station and there are more of them every day,” the organisation said.

The motel will first accommodate 60 individuals while the organisation intends to provide conditions for the accommodation of a total of 100 persons in the motel.

The building itself was not envisaged as a migrant centre but a place where travellers would be able to find a place to rest, take a shower, get a meal and sleepover in a warm bed. The migrants will be able to stay there for a few days after which they will continue their journey.

“We plan to increase the number of beds in the coming days along with other things and we expect the first migrants to enter the motel around New Year,” the organisation said.
