Over 100,000 people visited Sarajevo in the last three days during the spectacular event called 'Sarajevo, a 2020 New Year centre of the region,” said Mayor of Bosnia's capital Abdulah Skaka, on Thursday.

“The crowded Square of Bosnia and Herzegovina was the most beautiful image of our city and country that went into the world. A fantastic party in front of the Eternal Flame will remain an unforgettable fun for thousands of guests and our fellow citizens. We have shown that we are unique, united and gathered around positive projects and a better future,” Skaka said.

Not a single incident was recorded during the three-day event, he added, confirming that Sarajevo indeed has an image of true European capital.

“Guests from all over Europe, US and the rest of the world flocked in Sarajevo, recognizing it as a regional centre and one of the most desirable European New Year destinations. I am happy that we are entering the year 2020 as a City that has become famous as the capital of good entertainment, fun, as a meeting place, but also as a city of economic and tourism growth,” the Mayor noted.

In the end, he said that Sarajevo has, once again, proved that the slogan ‘Sarajevo, the New Year centre of the region” is a successful brand from the economic and tourism standpoint and that Sarajevans have once again proved that they are good hosts.
