The pride parade and its continuity is necessary, therefore the fight for the human rights of LGBTIQ population must resume this year, the activists who organised the first Bosnian pride parade, officially called the Pride March, said Thursday announcing a new event for 2020.

“Pride parade means a type of the fight against omnipresent violence not only against LGBTIQ persons but against all groups and individuals in society,” said the activists.

Bosnian capital and the country saw the first pride parade ever in September 2019, when thousands of citizens took to the streets and marched down the central Titova street to the State Parliament's building.

Strong police forces secured the event that was held under the motto ‘Ima izać’, roughly translated as ‘coming out’. No incident was reported.

The organising board, an informal body that consists of activists and other individuals involved in the event's promotion, encouraged all LGBTIQ persons and supporters to be part of the second Pride March and to contribute within their own capacities.

The application remains open until February 24.
