Bosnia's Border Police director suspends five officers over bribe allegations

Anadolija

Bosnia's Border Police (BP) director Zoran Galic had suspended five officers stationed at the Brod border crossing over bribe and abuse of office charges, the Border police said on Thursday.

The five officers are said to have allegedly committed several corruption acts in the night of March 5, when they asked for bribes from people crossing the border.

In return, the Border Police said the officers had allegedly turned a blind eye to the people entering the country performing no duties.

The Border Police said the officers had been suspended for allegations of taking a bribe, damaging the reputation of the police authority and abusing their position.

The suspension of the said police officers will continue until the completion of disciplinary or criminal proceedings, they added.
