Croatia's presidency of the European Union has decided to postpone an EU-Western Balkans summit, originally scheduled for May 7 in Zagreb, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to limit the spread of the pandemic and cushion its effects, the Croatian presidency of the Council of the European Union has decided to postpone until May 15 all informal meetings and conferences scheduled to be held in Croatia, the Croatian presidency said.

The decision also includes the postponement of the Zagreb summit, the presidency said. The presidency will try to find a new date in June in agreement with the President of the European Council, Charles Michel.

In case a physical meeting will not be possible, the presidency will propose that the Zagreb summit be held via video link by the end of Croatia's presidency, June 30.
