The Bosniak and Croat members of the country’s tripartite Presidency visited the Kovaci Memorial Centre and several cemeteries across the capital on Wednesday to mark April 15, the Day of the Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina (RBiH).

The Bosniak Presidency Member, Sefik Dzaferovic, congratulated on the 28th anniversary of the formation of the RBiH Army, saying that this represented “an expression of the aspiration of the people to preserve an independent Bosnia and Herzegovina and their aspirations for freedom.”

“The RBiH Army was the only legal military force in Bosnia and Herzegovina during the times of the aggression on the country which honourably managed to defend the internationally recognised state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and enabled the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement “, he said.

“The best way to tribute all RBiH Army members is to promote what they fought for, which is an integral Bosnia and Herzegovina, a state of equal peoples and citizens throughout its territory,” he added, arguing that discrimination in any form must be eliminated int he country.

His Bosnian Croat colleague in the Presidency, Zeljko Komsic, also congratulated and argued that Bosnians have reasons to be proud of the key decisions that were made for the country during the war and that this must not be forgotten – especially the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for Bosnia's freedom.
