The Zenica-based company furloughed a majority of about 2,400 workers on May 19, and on Tuesday they returned steelworkers back to work.

The company's union refused to give consent for the reduction of salaries above €600 or furloughing the workers, which was the administration's plan to mitigate the consequences caused by the coronavirus pandemic, that reduced the demand for their products.

According to ArcelorMittal trade union President Zuhdija Kapetanovic's assessment at the press conference, some 1,700 workers were furloughed.
