A donation of 42,000 protective masks children from a choir in the town of Wuxi, China, sent to children in Sarajevo has arrived on Monday.

“They liked Bosnia and Herzegovina a lot and when the pandemic came, they wished to send help to the children in Sarajevo, to a school near the Embassy of China in Bosnia,” said Bosnia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Bisera Turkovic.

“No state or humanitarian organisation is behind this donation, only those children with big hearts,” she said, explaining that the Chinese children bought the masks using their pocket money.

The Chinese Ambassador in Bosnia, Ji Ping, called the donation “special.”

“They found out that the coronavirus has also come to Bosnia in the beginning of March, which worried them and they bought masks already in April,” he said, explaining that the donation only arrived in Bosnia now due to difficulties with the transport.

China has until now donated six ventilators, more than 40,000 masks, and a number of coronavirus tests and protective suits to Bosnia until now, the ambassador said, announcing another donation of 10,000 tests soon.
