Another 60 coronavirus infections in Bosnia, one more fatality

Another 60 patients tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bosnia and Herzegovina over the last 24 hours, 38 in the Federation (FBiH) and 22 in Republika Srpska (RS), the healthcare authorities of the two semi-autonomous regions confirmed on Friday. RS also reported one fatality caused by the virus.

With 38 new cases in reported in four FBiH's sub-regions, Zenica-Doboj Canton, Una-Sana Canton, Tuzla Canton and Sarajevo Canton, this part of the country has so far recorded 1,265 Covid-19 patients.

“Epidemiological situation is getting complex with the increasing number of new hotspots. The latest information shows the virus is still active and it is very important and crucial for every one of us at this moment and the period ahead of us to stick to the measures of personal protection, and for the employers to obey the prevention measures at work in order to prevent the virus spread and the increase in the number of the infected,” the FBiH crisis staff said on Friday.

To date, 980 patients have recovered and 40 have died, leaving 245 active cases in this part of the country.

The FBiH authorities have performed 42,281 coronavirus tests, 569 in the last 24 hours.

In RS, the healthcare authorities reported 22 new coronavirus infections in ten different towns. The patient who died was an older woman suffering from several other chronic diseases.

So far, the region has performed 31,347 lab test, 223 in the last 24 hours.

The total of confirmed coronavirus infection cases in this part of the country is 1,607, with 1,123 of those who have recovered to date. The region has reported 118 coronavirus-related deaths.

According to Bosnia's Civil Affairs Ministry, 2,893 coronavirus infections have been reported in the country to date. Bosnia's Covid-19 death toll stands at 162 and more than 2,000 patients have recovered to date.

Brcko District, a separate administrative unit in the north, has seen 20 confirmed Covid-19 patients, of which 16 recovered and four died.
