Bilateral relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania are exceptionally good and not burdened with open issues, Bosnia's Presidency Chairman Sefik Dzaferovic and Albania's acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj agreed in a meeting held in Sarajevo on Tuesday.

The two officials agreed the cooperation could expand in the sectors of tourism and economy, and that the two capitals should be connected with a road via Podgorica.

They also agreed on the necessity of opening the countries’ embassies in Sarajevo and Tirana, which would significantly improve their relationship.

Albanian official also met his Bosnian counterpart, FM Bisera Turkovic, stressing the importance of a joint performance on the road towards the European Union membership.

“It is important to remove all present and possible obstacles to the improvement of our cooperation economic progress, free trade and movement, and this doesn't refer to Bosnia and Herzegovina only but to all Balkan countries,” Cakaj said.

He also thanked Turkovic for the cooperation in tackling the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
