The Government of Japan has donated to Bosnia an amount of Japan-made favipiravir medication sufficient for the treatment of 100 Covid-19 patients, the Civil Affairs Ministry of Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Tuesday.

According to the ministry, the medication will be delivered on Wednesday at the premises of Bosnian ‘Phoenix Farm BiH’ company, which will take care of the storage and transportation of the donation.

The ceremony will be attended by Civil Affairs Minister Ankica Gudeljevic and Japan's Ambassador in Bosnia Hideyuki Sakamoto.

Favipiravir, sold under the brand name ‘Avigan’, is used in Japan to treat influenza and has proved to be efficient in preventing the spread of SARS-COV-2 virus.
