Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity has not contacted the authority that the Russian Health Ministry approved as the coronavirus vaccine producer, assistant FBiH Health Minister Goran Cerkez told N1, adding that the FBiH will follow the European Union's (EU) policy on this matter.

“Regarding the vaccine, the FBiH will follow the European Union's policy, the stance of the world experts and recommendations of the leading researchers,” said Cerkez.

Republika Srpska, Bosnia's other semi-autonomous region, has not declared on the matter. The two administrative units manage their healthcare sectors separately.

Bosnia's Civil Affairs ministry earlier told N1 that Bosnia was among the countries that would have equal access to the Covid-19 vaccine once it becomes available and that the country would get 20 percent of the vaccine in relation to its population.

The world's first coronavirus vaccine was registered in Russia, President Vladimir Putin told media on Tuesday. It was developed by the Moscow-based Gamaleya Institute and officially approved by the Health Ministry of that country.
