Contract inked for Corridor Vc motorway section through Bosnia and Herzegovina

A €77.9 million contract for the construction of part of the Vc European motorway corridor through central Bosnia and Herzegovina, was signed on Monday between the state-owned 'Autocesta Federacije BiH' company and a consortium of contractors.

‘Autoceste Federacije BiH’ informed that the contract refers to the construction of the section between Tarcin, west of Sarajevo and the entrance to a tunnel at Ivan Pass, with a distance of 4.9 kilometres.

The contract was signed by Autoceste FBiH director Adnan Terzic as the investor, the director of Euro-Asfalt Sarajevo and Granit AD Skopje Hamed Ramic on behalf of a consortium of contractors and Transport Minister in the Federation entity, Denis Lasic.

The works will be financed with a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) as well as a €11.7 million grant from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

The construction works are expected to last 20 months and include the construction of two bridges, two viaducts and four underpasses.

Minister Lasic underlined that the works will continue until the end of the year and next year too with new contracts for construction of the motorway through the central area of the country and on through Herzegovina. He added that works did not stop at any of the construction site along the motorway despite the coronavirus and that there are currently 1,200 workers employed at those sites.
