Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik controls life and death in the Bosnian Serb entity called Republika Srpska (RS), former Security Minister Dragan Mektic told N1's Amir Zukic Wednesday evening, adding that the criminal business lobby in the country is made up tycoon companies allegedly close to Dodik.
“I don't know of a single serious company capable of doing a sophisticated job that is not close to Dodik,” Mektic noted.
When asked if that could be the reason why those who ordered the murder of Slavisa Krunic, a successful businessman from Banja Luka, the RS administrative centre, have never been discovered, Mektic said it is not only those responsible for Krunic's death.
“It's the reason behind any unsolved murder. Those are people who were well known publicly and they were murdered but their murders were unsolved. It's because those murders have a sort of a political signature in them. High-ranking officials, people from the government were involved in them. I'm talking about the Krunic case – I was friends with him. He got involved in some serious business. He told me of some serious threats and pressures. In the end, he bought a bulletproof car to try to protect himself,” Mektic, who is a member of Bosnia's Parliament, told N1.
Slavisa Krunic, the owner of several enterprises, including security agency ‘Sector Security’ and bakery chain ‘Zitopeka’ was killed in April of 2019 in what appeared to be an ambush near his house in Banja Luka suburbs.
Police in Bosnia’s Serb-majority semi-autonomous RS entity has arrested two suspects of the assassination a day later, but the case fell into a dead-end afterwards.
Mektic criticised the work of Bosnia's Prosecution, saying they are not working on a single serious case in the country.
“The Prosecutor's Office, as it is, will not initiate or investigate anything related to high crime and corruption in the RS, or anything related to the crime of certain political parties. They're not working on a single serious case. The Prosecution has entered into a phase, which is terrible, they are working exclusively on rigged trials,” he added.
