The Interior Minister of Bosnia’s Serb majority Republika Srpska (RS) region denied media reports saying that the RS Ministry takes over migrants from Serbia and transports them to Bosnia’s northwestern Una-Sana Canton (USK), saying that such allegations are “untrue and malicious” and come from those “who didn’t manage to tackle the migrant crisis.”

“We work in accordance with the law to put migrants under control and prevent them from committing offences or crimes and endangering out citizen across Republika Srpska. We do that very successfully,” Dragan Lukac said.

He added that incidents among the migrants do occur but that police “puts that under control and sanctions it very quickly.”

Lukac also announced that his ministry will tackle the issue of fraud in the voter registration process for out of country citizens in the upcoming local election.

“Wherever we find that an offence or a crime is taking place, we will act according to the procedure, together with the Prosecutor’s Office,” he said.

The local election in Bosnia is set for November 15.
