Leader of the Party for Democratic Actions (SDA) Bakir Izetbegovic said on Wednesday that Bosnia and Herzegovina has "terrifying weapons" at its disposal which is something that anyone who has any bad intentions towards that country should think about.

Izetbegovic visited the Binas weapons factory where he was given a demonstration of some of the products manufactured thereafter which he told reporters that he was impressed with what he saw.

“I attended a presentation of new shells produced at Binas in Bugojno with a range of more than 2,000 metres.. and launchers that can fire them in a burst. Hence, this is terrifying weaponry in the hands of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Izetbegovic.

He added that any progress that the military industry in the country makes is a “step towards fortifying peace.”

“This is a message of discouragement to anyone who may have any bad intentions towards Bosnia and Herzegovina,” he added, thrilled with what he saw at the arms factory.

In 2018 Izetbegovic triggered off a lot of reactions when he said that Bosnia and Herzegovina, that is, the Federation entity would more strongly develop its military industry, “just in case.”

Federation Prime Minister Fadil Novalic, who accompanied Izetbegovic on Wednesday, confirmed that the Federation entity would continue investing in its military industry with the aim of increasing its capacities to reach an annual production valued at €500 million.

“The sales of weapons are growing despite all the appeals for no more wars,” Novalic explained.

The value of ammunition produced in 2019 amounted to just over €120 million which was then sold in fifty countries and the biggest buyers were Arab countries like Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
