Bogic Bogicevic, Bosnian politician and former MP, has accepted the nomination of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to be a joint coalition candidate for the Mayor of Sarajevo, the SDP announced on its official website.

“During his entire career, this man, statesman, social-democrat, has been putting in the foreground the benefit of all people. He is a long-standing member and official of the SDP, and he accepted with pleasure the call to be a candidate for the first person of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said the party's statement.

Bogicevic had served as a member of the Presidency of the former Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, representing then Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After Bosnia's independence, he served as a member of the Parliament of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The SDP welcomed the success the coalition composed of four political parties achieved in the recent election, particularly in the Bosnian capital, winning the posts of municipality heads in four of five Sarajevo's municipalities.

The coalition is represented by the People and Justice (NiP), Our Party (NS) and SDP.
