Jahorina Olympic Centre near Sarajevo announced a new season opening on Sunday, becoming the first ski resort in the region to open its doors for winter sports.

Dejan Ljevnaic, the Olympic Centre general manager, said the opening comes at the moment of the first snowfalls and favourable air temperature, adding that the snowmaking system was ready to work.

The visitors can use the Poljice ski slope as well as the Poljice lift.

The 6-seater chairlift is available for a panoramic view of the Olympic mountain.

“Thanks to well-prepared ski slopes and snowmaking system, we're the first to open the ski resort,” said Ljevnaic.

The Olympic Centre management called on guests to obey the epidemiological measures and behave responsibly to themselves and those around them, but also to enjoy the winter joys and strengthen their immune system by spending their time in nature and mountains.

The season-opening at the Jahorina Mountain comes at the moment when most ski resorts across Europe are still closed and not likely to get underway before 2021.
