The United States is proud to call Bosnian Armed Forces our Partner, US Embassy tweeted Wednesday marking the 15th anniversary since the formation of Bosnia’s Army.

“Happy Armed Forces Day to the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AF BiH)! Reflecting on just this past year, the AF BiH, and all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, can be proud of its many significant accomplishments,” US Embassy said.

“From assisting civil authorities in combating COVID-19 to achieving NATO Evaluation Level One status to hosting a Bilateral Exercise, the AF BiH has moved closer towards accomplishing its NATO Partnership Goals and played a vital role in advancing Bosnia’s Euro-Atlantic integration,” the Embassy added.

The AF BiH are the official military in Bosnia which was formed after the unification of the Bosniak-Croat army of the Federation entity and the army of Bosnian Serbs called after the Serb Dominated entity in the country, the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) in 2005.

The AFBiH was formed from three armies of the Bosnian War period: the Bosnian (dominantly Bosniak with numbers of Serbs and Croats) Army of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnian Serb Army of Republika Srpska, and the Croat Defence Council.

“The United States is proud to call you our Partner AF BiH! Congratulations and all the best in your future endeavours,” US Embassy tweeted.
