Central Election Commission looking into regularity of elections in Srebrenica

Bosnia's state electoral authority launched a procedure of checking the regularity of recently held elections in the towns of Srebrenica and Doboj with six members of the Central Election Commission voting in favour of that decision.

Commission Chairman, Zeljko Bakalar, explained there was a “grounded suspicion” about the breach of the electoral rules by election administration.

Commission member Vlado Rogic voted against.

“We lack several practical things that would say something could have happened in Srebrenica. I think that by doing this we are unjustly accusing the election administration that professionally did its job,” said Rogic explaining his decision to object the Commission's decision.

But, Commission member Irena Hadziabdic, who supported the decision, pointed out several details from the election day on November 15 that she found “indicative.”

“It was indicative that the turnout by 11 am was so high that it appears it took 50 seconds per voter to cast their vote. That's not authentic vote,” stressed Hadziabdic.

“We know that the voting procedure is slower in the pandemic circumstances. It took me more than two minutes to get in and out, and I knew who were my favourites”, she added.
