Significant drop in number of foreign tourists' visits to Bosnia

Bosnia and Herzegovina has seen 73.7 less tourists this October than during the same month last year, according to official statistics.

The total of 43,751 tourists travelled to the country in October, which is by 20.7 percent less than in the month before.

As for the number of overnight stays, the figures dropped by 68.3 percent compared to October 2019.

Domestic tourists led the way with 68.7 percent participation in overnight stays, while the rest were foreign tourists.

Those travelling to Bosnia and Herzegovina from abroad mostly included the tourists from Serbia (35.7%), the United Arab Emirates (18.1%) and Croatia (17%), followed by Turks and Kuwait (4.4 percent each).

Japanese tourists stayed the longest periods, averagely 29 nights, followed by Malaysians who stayed 11.4 nights in average and Iranians with 10.3 nights. The tourists from Finland averagely stayed 5.2 nights, while Hungarians and Poles stayed 5.1 nights each.

The tourists had 15.125 apartments and camping sites available during October 2020, which is by 26.2 percent less than during the same month 2019, said Bosnia's Statistics Agency.
