On the occasion of the biggest Christian holiday of Easter, the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Metropolitan Vinko Puljic, and the Archbishop of Vrhbosna, Coadjutor Tomo Vuksic, sent a message stating that nowadays various fears overwhelm people and permeate personal and common life.

“At this time of the pandemic, the fear of infection and disease has crept in, which is spread even more by the mass media, there is a fear of death – which is normal for a person to fear death, especially when they tell us so many statistics about people dying. However, although people are dying, as they have been dying from many other diseases. The fear is intensified by the economic crisis and by the question of survival from the crisis itself – because many people have lost their jobs,” archbishops said in the Easter message.

They also point out that natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods and fires have occurred.

Puljic and Vuksic called on Christian believers to celebrate “Christ's resurrection in this atmosphere of various fears.”
“This celebration, in addition to being a remembrance of the event of the resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth, is also an experience of Jesus Christ in our midst; Jesus who will remove our fear and bring in the power of faith to deal with all sources of fear and live hope,” they say, adding that “Jesus should not be expelled from our hearts, our families and our environment in the spirit of secularism.”

In this regard, they congratulated the faithful on the upcoming Easter, wishing it to be “filled with Jesus’ peace and joy of faith and with the light that dispels all fear and instils security and hope in life.”
