The 'Despot' armoured vehicle was seen parked in front of the building of the Republika Srpska entity government on Wednesday in the northern city of Banja Luka, following the information that the safety of Serb member of Bosnia's Presidency Milorad Dodik was in jeopardy.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Bosnia's Republika Srpska entity said it received the information from partner services that “certain groups” are threatening the safety of Dodik and his family, which prompted the police to raise the security to the highest level.
The said measures will remain in effect until all facts regarding this information are fully inspected, said the Republika Srpska entity ministry.
Dodik is the Bosnia Presidency member elected in the Serb-majority part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the US expanded the sanctions on Dodik in January this year for undermining the stability of Bosnian institutions and corrupt activities, he was also targeted by the UK Government's sanctions this week for undermining the legitimacy, functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
