An Austrian citizen was arrested yesterday on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense of "violation of the peace of the deceased" after damaging tombstones in the Bare cemetery in Sarajevo while drunk, Sarajevo Canton's Interior Ministry said Wednesday.

According to the Sarajevo police, officers arrested an individual at around 1:30 PM Tuesday with the initials S.N.S.B. born 1988 in Austria, where she resides, and who has a temporary stay in Sarajevo, on suspicion of having committed a criminal offense under Article 379, paragraph 1 of the CC FBiH (Violation of the peace of the deceased).

The police said she physically damaged four tombstones in the area of the Bare City Cemetery while drunk.

“The on-duty Prosecutor was informed about the event, and the said individual was handed over to the premises of the detention facility of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of the Interior,” the Ministry said adding that the police will continue processing the arrested Austrian citizen.
