The BiH Court’s trial chamber released Jahja Vukovic of charges of terrorism, on Tuesday, noting that they believe he is a young individual and not a terrorist as the Prosecution claimed.

The Court assessed the video, which was available on social networks, which allegedly shows the accused, his lower extremities, as unreliable evidence and stated that it was impossible to establish the exact identity.

The Prosecution charged Vukovic, aka Abdulaziz, with staying in Syria with other people from Bosnia for six years, where he allegedly participated in terrorist activities, provided assistance and fought on the side of the Al Nusra Front forces.

Vukovic was charged with staying in Syria from 2014 to 2020, where he allegedly fought in the structures of the “Al Nusra Front,” which was declared a terrorist organization by the UN Security Council.

According to the indictment, Vukovic left BiH on June 16, 2014, and went to Germany, from where, after two months, he flew to Turkey and illegally crossed into Syria intending to join terrorist groups operating in the area.

Members of the “Al Nusra Front” committed terrorist acts to violently change the constitutional order and government through daily armed conflicts, attacks on the population, killings, illegal imprisonment, hostage-taking and other actions.

Vukovic stayed in Syria until the collapse and defeat of the structures of the so-called Islamic State, after which he hid in Turkey, where he was located, arrested and extradited to the BiH judiciary in October last year.
