Bosnian Foreign Minister Bisera Turkovic sent protest notes to the embassies of the Russian Federation, the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia due to the presence of embassy representatives at the events held on January 9, in connection with the unconstitutional celebration of the Day of Republika Srpska entity.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina expresses its respect and wishes to draw your attention to the fact that the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, via judgment published in the Official Gazette of BiH No. 30/19, declared January 9 as the official day of the Republika Srpska entity unconstitutional, finding that its marking is not in accordance with Article I/2 of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Article II/4 of the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina in relation to Article 1.1. and Article 2 a) and c) of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination, Article 1 of Protocol No. 12 to the European Convention, and Article VI/5 of the Constitution of BiH. In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH protests against the presence of Embassy representatives at the commemoration ceremonies of January 9, held on January 8 and 9, 2022 in Banja Luka, which is an act contrary to the above-mentioned ruling of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” Turkovic stated in the note.

the Ministry also stressed that disrespect for the institutions of BiH and the verdict of the Constitutional Court “constitute an act of gross interference in the internal affairs of BiH.”
