Bosnian Presidency members Zeljko Komsic and Sefik Dzaferovic as well as the Canadian Srebrenica Genocide Research Institute welcomed Thursday night's adoption of the Srebrenica genocide resolution in the Montenegrin Parliament saying it was an act of civilization.

“I consider it an act of civilization, especially due to the fact that it prohibits the denial of genocide,” Komsic said, adding that “Bosnia and Serbia should do the same.”

The adoption of the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica represents a civilizational step forward and an immeasurable contribution to the restoration of trust, and the strengthening of peace and stability in the region, said the member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sefik Dzaferovic.

“That is why I welcome this decision of the Parliament of Montenegro and I perceive it as an honest and friendly act. Accepting the facts established in the verdicts of the International Court of Justice and The Hague Criminal Tribunal is the only correct way to look at the past, and facing the truth and accepting justice is a necessary condition for building lasting peace and healthy relations,” Dzaferovic added.

The Institute for Genocide Research of Canada (IGK) welcomed the adoption of the Resolution saying that with its adoption and the removal of the Minister who publicly denied the genocide, the Parliament of Montenegro included its state among the ranks of civilized states that recognized the genocide in Srebrenica.

“The decision of the Parliament of Montenegro is great not only for Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina but also for a better future of the region, Europe and the world. At the same time, the Resolution is a call for action for the adoption of similar resolutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia. Because the issue of preserving the truth and justice about the genocide in Srebrenica is a matter of preserving peace and stability, preserving the identity of the victims and the descendants of the victims. Truth and justice cannot be negotiated and traded. This must be clear to deniers and revisionists who are not worthy of truth and justice and thus a better future,” said the Genocide Research Institute of Canada.

The Parliament of Montenegro adopted the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica on Thursday and dismissed the country's Justice Minister over his controversial statements on the 1995 genocide in Bosnia.
