Bosnia’s Prosecutor’s Office said on Saturday that it formed a case based on a criminal complaint against Bosnia's top-ranking officials for failing to procure vaccines against COVID-19 and allegedly endangering the lives of citizens, which was submitted by a local medical expert on behalf of a group of citizens.
Dr. Bakir Nakas filed the charges on Monday against the Chairman of Bosnia’s Council of Ministers, Zoran Tegeltija, Bosnia's Civil Affairs Minister Ankica Gudeljevic, the Prime Minister of Bosnia’s Federation (FBiH) entity, Fadil Novalic, and the FBiH Health Minister, Vjekoslav Mandic.

He argued that the officials did nothing in the period September 18, 2020 – March 18, 2021, to procure vaccines.
“Their abuse of office has resulted in the uncontrolled spread of a contagious disease, the death of a large number of people, the denial of the right to health care to health insured persons and the collapse of the health system in Bosnia and Herzegovina,” the complaint said.
The Prosecutor’s Office said it will “monitor the activities” of officials regarding the process of vaccine procurement and immunisation of the population as part of the case to determine possible criminal liability regarding the “severe consequences for the lives and health of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina” which the pandemic has caused.
