BiH sitting volleyball team reaches World Cup finals in Sarajevo

Bosnia’s sitting volleyball national team defeated Egypt 3:0 (25:13; 25:19; 25:20) in the semi-finals of the World Sitting Volleyball Championship in Sarajevo, thus reaching the finals.

At the start of the first set, the dragons, as all BiH national teams are affectionately called, achieved a more significant lead that varied from three to six points, until halfway through set number one. their advantage increased further and the first set ended with a convincing score of 25:13 in just over 20 minutes.

The BiH team continued to play furiously, making an 8:0 run at the start of the second set when they took a 10:2 lead. The Egyptians consolidated in the continuation and came to 11:9 and coach Ifet Mahmutovic had to ask for a time-out. Egypt was an equal opponent until the end of the set. They were down by one point, but the dragons managed to stop Egypt with a 3:0 series when they increased their lead to 21:16. Set number two went to BiH 25:19.

Big fight in the third set. It was tied during the first 15 points, and then again BiH won the series 4:0 and went to 13:9. The Egyptians did not manage to offer serious resistance to the BiH team, who won the third set as well.

The BiH sitting volleyball team will fight for the 27th medal in the history of the BiH national team.

Their opponent will be the winner of the second semi-final in which Iran and Brazil meet.

Bosnia’s sitting volleyball players are going on a quest for the fourth World Cup gold. Additionally, they also have two silvers and one bronze.
