Bosnia approves AstraZeneca vaccines procured through COVAX for use

Bosnia’s Agency for Medicinal Products and Medical Devices approved on Thursday the AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) vaccines which arrived in BiH through the COVAX mechanism for use in the country.

The approval, based on positive findings by the agency’s laboratory, is a condition for beginning the immunisation of the population with the vaccine, and the findings were submitted to the competent institutions in the country’s two semi-autonomous entities and the Brcko District.

On Monday, the institution approved the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines which were also procured through COVAX.

Part of the vaccines that BiH purchase through COVAX arrived at Sarajevo International Airport on March 25 – 26,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine and 23,400 doses of Pfizer vaccine.
