A cantonal court sentenced on Thursday former deputy speaker of entity parliament in Bosnia's Federation (FBiH) entity to 25 months in prison for abuse of office.

Vesna Svancer, the former Deputy Speaker of the FBiH House of Representatives, was sentenced before the Cantonal Court of Tuzla, northern Bosnian town.

The former official is also a subject of injunctive relief barring her from performing any duty in the executive authority, public institutions or enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the two-year period. She was also seized all illegally gained assets worth 11,500 marks (approx 6,000 euros) and was ordered to compensate 5,000 marks (approx 2,500 euros) damage.

The cantonal court corrected the first-instance verdict rendered by the Municipal Court in Tuzla that initially sentenced Svancer to two years and six months in prison as well as injunctive relief barring her from performing duties in the period of ten years.
