Milorad Dodik, the Serb member of Bosnia's tripartite Presidency, has used his constitutional right and invoked the mechanism known as the protection of vital national interest, objecting the trade agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the UK.

“I feel like Bosnia and Herzegovina is put in an inferior position here, since this is the second time this is put on agenda for a decision, and I voted against and invoked the vital national interest,” Dodik told the reporters on Wednesday, following the Presidency session.

The Serb Presidency member, who was elected in the Serb-majority entity Republika Srpska, said the matter will be forwarded to the entity parliament and that he believes the National Assembly will reject the deal as well.

Republika Srpska, said Dodik, does not see the UK as a friend due to the suspicions that the offered agreement does not equally treat all sides in it.

“Because of that, we cannot give consent for that agreement,” he noted.
